Laura’s Story

This is a personal account written by one of my clients about her journey so far. Laura is someone who wanted to make a big change to her appearance and lifestyle, in order to do this, I have had to ask her to make some pretty drastic changes to her previous life. She has had to make decisions that would affect her financially and socially. I doubt many people in the same shoes would have done so. I hope her story will inspire you to push yourself further than what you had previously thought possible.

Tim’s Story

Tim was a German exchange student who was in Torquay for the year, and has recently gone back home after finishing his Exams.

I first met Tim in December 2010 when he first started out at Winners. I noticed he spent a hell of a lot of time working out each day and approached him about his training regime in January. As Tim was 16yrs old, he was a lad who wanted to put on size and gain muscle mass. I sat down with him and told him where he had been going wrong, and what he needed to do to improve. He then wanted to start training with me on a regular basis. We worked together every Monday afternoon, and on the odd occasion twice a week, and the results he wanted started to show. I went through his diet and the intake of food he needed, and at the right times, his rest days, which he never thought were important before, and training to his optimum with perfect technique. From the 5 months working with Tim, his starting weight in muscle mass in January was 61kg, that then lead on to him to reaching 68kg of muscle mass in June. Overall, he gained over a stone of pure muscle in 5 months, and not only that, he surpassed his expectations of beating his target bodyweight of 85kg. Well done Tim, you’ve got outstanding potential, a promising, bright future with a great positive mental attitude and work ethic. Anything is Possible.

Tim “The first thing I want to say about training with James is that it was the best thing I could have ever done to get the results I wanted. The effort he puts in to help me achieve my goals is just brilliant. But it is not just his enthusiasm and efforts he puts in , it is also his great knowledge about nutrition and the human body which gave me better understanding of what I was doing and why. It also felt like it was not just me reaching my goals alone, it felt like we were reaching my goal together. It was not just the training that was affected by my weekly sessions with James ,the discipline and the goal setting and actually be able to reach the goals I set myself gave me more confidence and helped me become more organized in life.

Before I started training with James regularly, I was training on my own for a month and really struggled to put weight on. My sessions with James really made the difference, every time we checked my weight it was higher than before and that really kept me going. I was amazed what I was able to achieve in just 5 months of hard and strict training and diet. I could have never achieved this without you mate. Thanks James”.

All at Winners 2000 are so friendly and enthusiastic which seems to rub off on the clients.  Whilst a two year contract seems to be a long one it turns out not to be, because before you know it you have used it and the extra classes are well worth having a go at.  Always good to try something new,  A Personal Trainer is well worth having and mine, Glen, who I train with twice a week, goes the extra mile to make sure you remain on track and encourages you to push yourself harder.  If like me you are a novice runner and a little slow but want to improve the beginners running club is a must as hopefully you will be spurred on by Sam and the other runners.

Despite trying different gyms over the years, I never really felt happy in what I was doing and how I was doing it. That changed when I joined Winners. The staff are consistently knowledgeable, friendly and their support has helped me not only to enjoy exercise, but be healthier – mentally as well as physically. I am getting closer to attaining my fitness goals – and I am doing it in an environment which is always encouraging and fun. It’s a good place to be!
